Best Western Plus Aston Hall Hotel

Travelling for work, 1 night stay. Friendly welcome and speedy check in. Slightly disappointing after being offered a table in the restaurant then told sorry no room but you can eat in the bar. It was after a 5 hour drive so didn't feel like going out, the bar it is. Room was OK, clean and tidy but nothing special, Premier Inn standard although the bed was not quite as comfy as Premier Inn. Bar was small so felt busier than it actually was. Short wait to be served but again friendly service. Building feels unloved, wallpaper peeling in places, water stained ceilings, woodwork needing a coat of paint, light fitting damaged in the ceiling, etc.... not horrendous but could do with a bit of tlc. Food wasn't much to write home about, chicken supreme was supposed to be a skin on breast but turned out to be a small mini beast fillet, no sauce included but table sauces available. Weatherspoons standard at best but twice the price. Breakfast was OK, freshly cooked and arrived quickly, but continental and cereal options were limited. Overall, OK. Would stay again if 1 night for a work visit but not a holiday destination. OK for the money.

Had our wedding meal here in May and it was exactly what we imagined and more, it was perfect! We hired a room out and had 30 guests for a 3 course meal. All the staff were lovely and attentive and nothing was too much trouble. They even announced us into the room as Mr & Mrs which was a lovely touch. It also meant we could take some lovely photos in the grounds too. The food was beautiful, really tasty and there was plenty. A special mention too Hannah the sales manager for all her help in planning/organising our meal and Claire on reception for allowing us to order breakfast up to our room the morning after. Christmas day disaster. Twenty of us £85 per head probably the worst Christmas day meal we've had. All met in the bar only one barmaid who apparently was training. So we passed on the drink and went to our table. We must have waited at least one hour for the measly portion of soup. Then the main course came which wasn't that good. All in all poor service average food very expensive never again for us. Come on Christmas day lunch in a bowl no no.

We have been been coming here on boxing day for 5 years it's always amazing food and service. So we decided to try Christmas day unfortunately we made a mistake boxing day is much better won't be coming again. The food was very average the service wasn't that good and the price was ridiculous for what we received. So back to boxing day next year better food at less than half the price.
